Barb Chuko MSW, LISW-S

is a Licensed Independent Social Worker Supervisor (LISW-S), in practice since 2003, with a Masters of Social Work obtained from The Ohio State University in 2002.  She worked in Community Mental Health for 6 years, where she served a wide range of populations and needs, in the home and office settings.
In addition to the breadth of knowledge and resources which a degree and the practice of social work provides, she pursued specialized in-depth treatments and approaches including  Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Adults of all ages, individuals,  couples, and families.
 


Therapies:

Therapies include:
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Individual and Group.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR),
  • Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Therapies.
 Issues addressed:
  • Simple, small problems; large, complicated ones. 
  • Direct consequences of recent life stressors;
Approaches used: 
  • Conduct assessments and treatment plans to determine the problem and best approach based on preferences of the client.
  • Mutually agree upon goals and expectations.
  • Use Empirically verified techniques: those which are; and have extensive evidence of being effective in treating specific conditions such as those listed above.
  • Empowerment:  to better manage emotions, make decisions, and clarify relationships.
  • Encourage between sessions practice to enhance treatment gains.
